TWEEN has event information for grades 4, 5 & 6 at the Grove City United Methodist Church (the purple door church!) – Early-February 2012 edition. PARENTS – Please share this e-note with your preteens and any others that would be interested in TWEEN.

VALENTINES DAY is coming soon and we are already into February! We had a total of 48 snowtubing at Avalanche Tubing Park. If you have Facebook, we have some photos of some of our fun posted in the “Grove City UMC Preteens” group. Do a search and join. Lots of things coming up, so check out our calendar.

IMPORTANT FOR ALL SIXTH GRADERS!! – The last day of school you will become seventh graders and will be able to attend Christian Adventure Camp 2012. You have the opportunity to join the youth 6pm-8pm THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9 to set-up, and 3pm-10pm FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10 to prepare, serve the food, then clean and reset the Worship Center during the Youth’s Valentine WINTERFEAST, and earn credits towards your CAC fees. PURPLE DOOR PRETEEN SUNDAY SCHOOL - Preteen Sunday School for grades 4-5-6 meets at 9:30am downstairs in room 14 just off the Fellowship Hall. This is where we Grapple with some questions that preteens face. Come and share what is happening in YOUR life with your Purple Door Preteen friends.

PURPLE DOOR PRETEENS MIDWEEK –Preteen Wednesdays (Club Rock) for grades 4-5-6 meets in the Family Life Center (FLC) from 6:15 – 8:00pm through March. We will finish “Bullies” on Feb. 1 and begin an exciting new study on Feb. 8. Also coming up, on Feb. 22, Ash Wednesday, we will take a detour from our lesson plan to talk about what Ash Wednesday is, then join everyone in the Sanctuary for our Ash Wednesday service.

SIXTH GRADE GIRLS – All 6th grade girls are invited to join Ruth from 7:00-8:00pm every Thursday for a time of learning, fellowship and fun – led by your peers! Come to grow your relationship with Jesus and each other!

PRETEEN LOCK-IN – On March 16-17 we will have a lock-in to kick off registrations for our Preteen Summer Camp which is for those that will be going into grades 4-5-6 in the Fall 2012. We will have lots of food, games and fun, with an evening devotion. Check-in will be at 5:30pm, with parents to pick you up by 10:00am on Saturday morning. As in the past, parents are invited to come in Saturday morning to prepare, serve, and join us for breakfast. Watch for more details.

PRETEEN SUMMER CAMP 2012 – Our purple door church provides a summer camp for preteens going into grades 4-5-6 in the fall of 2012. This year camp will be from 5:00pm check-in Friday July 27 through return to church about 5:30pm Sunday July 29. (Please note this is one day shorter than in the past.) The cost of camp will be $108 per camper (includes t-shirt, meals, housing, and lots of fun activities), payable in four monthly payments of $27 beginning in March. This year there are a limited number of spots available - only 40 campers and 8 counselors. Registration for camp this year will be through March 25. After March 25, registrations will be accepted only if cabin space is available. If you have any questions, please contact Ruth at RuthH@gcumc.org.

ACOLYTES – If you would like to be an acolyte in either our 8:30am or 11am services please e-mail Leanne and Lance at lmariewatkins@gmail.com.

DRESS-UP!! – We need some clothing & costumes for “dress-up” games and activities for our purple door preteens. If you have any old stuff in sizes youth-medium to adult-small, please get them to Bob. We could also use a storage bin or two with lids for storage, and to simplify getting them to 2012 Summer Camp.
